LBCC Basketball class

This is the advanced basketball class here at LBCC. The class is every Monday and Wednesday afternoon at 4:00 PM. The athletes are doing a "2 man shooting drill," designed by Everett  Hartman the instructor for the class. How the drill works is, you have 2 lines, and one person from each line does the drill. The person in the middle line will pass the ball to the line that is on the left wing. After the person in the middle line will set a screen for the person on the wing then will roll to the basket. The person in the wing after using the screen set for them will pass the ball to the person that rolled to the basket. The person that rolled to the basket will finish with a layup, and the person that passed the ball will receive a pass from Everett Hartman, and they have the choice to shoot a 3 point shot, or mid range shot. 


Joehnis Joyce is the athlete in the red camo shorts, with no shirt on. He is a standout basketball player in the class. He attends LBCC and is majoring in zoology. He says " I want to help animals that are on the extinction list. My passion for zoology is unexplainable, I really just feel like I could make a difference." His plans for college were to tryout for the LBCC basketball team, however he is unsure on if he still wants to do that because he is thinking about transferring to another college to play football. Joyce and his team are playing a 5 on 5 scrimmage. First team to score 7 points wins, but the games are win by 2 or more points. Whoever wins stays on the court, and the losers have to steps off.



After having a solid performance from one of his scrimmage games, Joehnis Joyce turns around because one of the LBCC assistant coaches Ron Richards, calls his name out, and wants to talk to him.

   About 30 minutes before their second basketball game today on May 25th, 2019 at Ridgefeild high school in Ridgefeild Washington.  Talen Kiekhoefer, and his 5th grade basketball team Triple Threat, are seeking to come up victorious for their next game. They won their first game earlier today, but the next game will test their skills. Kiekhoefer is about to go through is normal stretching routine to loose before the game starts.   Triple Threat's game is about to start in less then10 minuets. Triple Threat's coach David Flemmin is giving a motivation pregame speech to all the players on the team. He says that they had a great first game in the morning, and they should strive to come out of the game and play like they did last game. Weston Basl; A Chip On His Shoulder

Photo courtesy of Weston Basl It’s just a regular Monday afternoon, and basketball class at LBCC just ended. About eight other students stay in the gym after the class has ended. An hour later, and the gym is empty. Another hour past … still, no one in the gym. No one, except for Weston Basl, as he constantly stays practicing, while nobody is there. Weston Basl, aka “West,” is a 18-year-old freshman LBCC student who is from Culver, Oregon. He is currently still undecided on what he wants to major in. West decided to go to LBCC because he wanted to experience the college life, and he is trying to play for the LBCC men’s basketball team next year. “I’m just practicing every day trying to get better. I haven't talked to the head coach at all, but I have talked to the assistant coach, coach Zimmermann. I actually had a training session with him in the summer, it was just him and I in the gym. Say far in the book "It's what I do," by Lynsey Addario what I love about it is here way to adapt to different cultures, and people. In the book so far she has traveled to Argentina, and Cube. She adapts to the people there so well, it's almost like the people that live there think she's one of them, and mind you that these people are living in very poor places. They barley have any close, barley any food or clean water, and they are living in war zones. Her kindness does help in her favor in these situations though. She is a very trustworthy person to, she respects the soldiers, and if someone doesn't want to be in a photo she wont take photos of them. Most of the time the soldiers don't care if they have their photo took.
